In accordance with a collaborative agreement signed between the Institute of International and Area Studies (IIAS), Tsinghua University and St Antony's College, University of Oxford, in 2023, St Antony's College will offer two postdoctoral research positions to recent Ph.D. graduates of Tsinghua University specializing in area studies (Ph.D. awarded within the past three years).

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must have obtained their Ph.D. degree from Tsinghua University within the past three years and be committed to pursuing an academic career in regional studies. Research areas can encompass any region or country in the Global South.

2. Applicants who have completed their Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting degree conferral may apply but must obtain their Ph.D. degree before assuming the postdoctoral research position.

II. Application Process

1. Applications must be in English and include a Ph.D. thesis abstract (2-4 pages), a postdoctoral research work plan (2-4 pages), a personal curriculum vitae, and 2-3 letters of recommendation (one of which must be from the Ph.D. advisor).

2. The application materials will be reviewed by the academic committees of Tsinghua University's Institute and St Antony's College, University of Oxford.

III. Term

The postdoctoral research positions are for one year, with the possibility of extension for exceptional candidates.

IV. Deadline

Applicants should submit their materials to iias-hr@mail.tsinghua.edu.cn by October 7, 2023 (Saturday). Late applications will not be considered.
